As part of the EFFUSE-win project, another field trip was held with students of the Uzhhorod Lyceum named after V.S. Grange-Donsky to the bank of the Uzh River within the city of Uzhhorod for the purpose of conducting field research.
Within the framework of the project “Environment for the Future through Scientific Education – Work in Nature” (EFFUSE-win), a field training was held with students of the Uzhgorod Lyceum named after V.S. Grange-Donsky on the banks of the Uzh River in the city of Uzhgorod. The aim was to conduct bioecological research during the first autumn rains and the end of the summer low tide.
Particular attention was paid to the study of the flora and fauna of the watercourse. After the flood, higher aquatic plants (water lily, sedge) were preserved only singly in the backwaters near the shore. During the observations, about ten mute swans were recorded, the appearance of which is associated with the autumn migration. Several species of invertebrates were noted in the coastal area: bipedal crustaceans, water donkey, the presence of which indicates an average level of pollution.
Coastal areas were also surveyed, where the spread of invasive plants was recorded: Japanese buckwheat, ragweed, sunflower, goldenrod, and adventitious asters. Their growth sites and habitat areas were determined. Similar activities will continue to familiarize students with modern approaches to environmental monitoring and bioindication.
