EFFUSE-win in Danišovce

Students explored aquatic ecosystems and learned about field research during outdoor excursions.

At the beginning of September, as part of two rounds of field excursions organized under the EFFUSE-win project, field activities and specialized workshops were held with the aim of introducing students to the practical aspects of research in the natural sciences, particularly focusing on amphibians, aquatic animals, and the ecology of freshwater environments.

During the field activities, students were introduced to various methodological approaches used in zoology. The observed organisms were identified and presented directly in the field, with special attention given to species associated with aquatic habitats. Students learned to recognize representatives of amphibians, aquatic insects, crustaceans, and other invertebrates, gaining practical experience with organisms in their natural environments.

Some specimens were carefully collected and examined more closely during the workshop using stereomicroscopes and identification keys. This allowed participants to observe the morphological features of different species and learn how to identify them according to scientific methodologies. After observations were completed, all animals were returned to their original habitats.

In addition to the field excursions, students also took part in educational workshops that built on the practical fieldwork and helped them better understand the relationships between organisms and their environment. The program also included an introduction to the EFFUSE-win project, its goals, and its contribution to scientific cooperation and environmental education. Through their presentations, the instructors brought students into the world of research, field expeditions, and scientific discovery, inspiring them to develop a deeper interest in natural sciences and research work.
