Experts and project partners of EFFUSE-win recorded the occurrence of animal and plant species directly in the field.
On October 29, 2025, as part of the EFFUSE-win project, an expert field activity took place in the floodplain forests surrounding the Latorica River, a key ecosystem of high biodiversity value. The aim of the fieldwork was to record the occurrence of animal and plant species in selected locations through visual and acoustic observations, as well as the identification of trace evidence such as tracks, droppings, or fur.
During the field survey, several species were observed, including the muskrat (Ondatra zibethicus), white-tailed eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla), common frogs, roe deer, moles, and ravens. Among invertebrates, snails and bivalves were most commonly recorded. The work of experts also included documenting endangered and locally significant plant species associated with this unique wetland environment.
The field component also involved photographic documentation, which will be used in the creation of educational materials and the development of the upcoming EFFUSE-win database. The activities were carried out in cooperation with Ukrainian project partners, who participated in the exchange of methods for data collection and field processing.
This field trip contributed to the advancement of expert knowledge, strengthened scientific cooperation, and expanded the data resources available for future research and educational activities within the EFFUSE-win project.
