A planned field trip of participants of the project EFFUSE-win took place to previously identified locations for monitoring along the Uzh River bed (village of Nevytske, village of Kamianytsia).
The purpose of the field trip of experts from the project “Environment for the Future through Science Education – Work in Nature” (EFFUSE-win) to the locations designated for monitoring along the Uzh River (village of Nevytske, village of Kamianytsia) was to continue systematic observations of the state of natural floodplain complexes.
During the work, the study of the diversity of the fauna and flora of the Uzh floodplain ecosystems and the assessment of their current state were continued. The participants carried out route surveys of coastal areas, recorded changes in the structure of plant cover, and also noted the peculiarities of the seasonal dynamics of individual species. Special attention was paid to the analysis of plant growth conditions in various microbiotopes and the influence of the river’s hydrological regime on the formation of communities.
Particular attention was paid to the non-native component of coastal plant communities: the number and species composition of adventitious plants, the size of their populations, the degree of naturalization and the percentage participation in the formation of the total plant cover were determined. This made it possible to assess the level of transformation of natural habitats and potential risks for aboriginal flora. In addition, biological material was collected for further laboratory analysis and water samples were taken for the purpose of hydrochemical and bioindication studies.
