Science Live in Schools

An interactive workshop in Košice showed students that science can be fascinating, fun, and full of unexpected experiences.

On June 20, 2025, an interactive workshop was held at the Ján Amos Komenský Gymnasium in Košice as part of the Effuse-Win cross-border project with Ukraine.
The event was intended for younger grade students and offered them a unique opportunity to explore the world of science and nature through live model organisms. More than 40 fourth-year students from bilingual classes participated.

Students had the chance to closely observe cockroaches, stick insects, spiders, scorpions, a turtle, lizards, and snakes. They learned about their role in scientific research, their biological characteristics, and their importance in natural ecosystems. The direct contact with the animals was complemented by interesting information not usually found in textbooks.

The workshop was led by Dr. Igor Majláth, who engagingly connected theory with practice and showed the students that science can also be fun and full of adventure. The event was part of the EFFUSE-win project activities aimed at supporting education and promoting science among young people.
